The Nubian Woodpecker (Campethera nubica) is a species of bird in the Picidae family. It is distributed widely in Central and Eastern Africa, from Chad in west to Somalia in east and Tanzania in south.
It has greenish-brown barred winds and brown spots on white breast and abdomen. The male has an all red crown while in the female the front half of the crown is spotted black and white while the read half is red.
