Purple Gallinule
The Purple Gallinule Porphyrio martinicus is a "swamp hen" in the rail family Rallidae. Also know locally as the Yellow-legged Gallinule. It is a medium-sized rail, measuring 10–15 inches in length. The white forehead shield color and intense yellow legs differentiates them from the similar Common Gallinule.
Their breeding habitat is warm swamps and marshes in Southeastern states of the United States and the tropical regions of Central America.
