Bananaquit
The Bananaquit Coereba flaveola is tentatively placed in the tanager family but its classification is debated, and it is often placed in its own family: Coerebidae. This small, active nectarivore is found in warmer parts of the Americas, and is generally common. I first saw it on our Caribbean trip (see ComingsBirds.com/Caribbean). It was also common in Costa Rica.
These photos were taken at the hummingbird feeders at the Peace Lodge.
