The Ross’s GooseChen rossi is a smaller version of the Snow Goose. It is distinguished by it smaller size with a length of 23 inches versus 28 inches for the lesser Snow Goose and 31 inches for the greater Snow Goose, and by the tendency of the edge of the base of the bill to go straight up as opposed to the re-curved edge of the Snow Goose. The Ross’s Goose also lacks the “grin patch” of the Snow Goose and often has a “warty” patch on the upper bill.
