Brown Quail
The Brown Quail, Swamp Quail Coturnix ypsilophora is an Australian true quail of the family Phasianidae. It is distributed in agricultural areas, wet grasslands, shrub lands and freshwater wetlands across much of New Guinea as well as in northern, eastern, south-eastern and south-western Australia and Tsmania, though absent from arid regions. This species has been introduced to Fiji and New Zealand. In New Zealand it occurs on the northern par tof North Island.
