The Pied Stilt, White-headed StiltHimantopus leucocephalus is a bird in the Recurvirostridae family. It is found in Australia, Brunel, Christmas Island, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Palau, Papa New Guinea, and the Philippines. It has very long pink legs and a fine long black bill. The juveniles and immature Pied Stilts have black hair on their crown and no black band on the neck (6695, 6858). The black band at the throat is quite variable in size and extent (compare 6929 to 6720 to 6748 and others).
