Yellow eyes, a black bill and black legs with yellow feet characterize the Snowy Egret Egreta thula. These were photographed at Gatorland during breeding season in late March. This accounts for the bright red coloring at the base of the upper bill. This is reminiscent of the red top of Sandhill Cranes. The redness is due to the absence of feathers.
