The Wood Stork Mycteria americana is a large wading bird with a range including Florida and much of South America. It has a black head and neck that is scaly in appearance, making for a face only a mother could love (1180). It is striking in flight with black primaries and secondaries. This is clear both form above (1220) and below (1100). With the proper angle of light the black has a dark greenish cast (1220).
