Seriemas interesting looking ground birds believed to be related to parrots. Since most of their close relatives are extinct the two Serimas (see below) are the sole members of the ancient family Cariamidae. There are two species of Seriemas.


Red-legged Seriema or Crested Cariama, Cariama cristata
Black-legged Seriema Chunga burmeisteri
