Dippers belong to the genus
Cinclus. They are named this because of their characteristic behavior of dipping of bobbing up and down. They inhabit the water’s edge and are the only passerines to swim under water. There are five species:

White-throated Dipper or European Dipper, Cinclus cinclus
Brown Dipper Cinclus pallasii
American Dipper Cinclus mexicanus
White-capped Dipper Cinclus leucocephalus
Rufous-throated Dipper Cinclus schulzi

Photos are shown of the American Dipper.
